Here at the Heart Center at the Shaheed Sardar Mohammad Dawood Khan Complex Hospital Kabul, we work hard to offer the best treatments to adults & children with cardiopathies. The Heart Center brings together two departments to provide care to patients with cardiac diseases: Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery. Our staff members diagnose and treat adults, children with coronary artery diseases (CAD) and Heart Valvular diseases including Aortic diseases. We also treat structural congenital heart defects. We work hard to offer our patients the best treatment possible, with world-leading standards of excellence. We boast one of the lowest surgical mortality rates, and a very low reintervention rate.

Clinical activity

The main mission of the Cardiology Unit is to diagnose and treat the whole spectrum of cardiovascular diseases, both in the acute and in the chronic phase. The Unit performs clinical consultations, non-invasive diagnostic tests (e.g. trans-thoracic and trans-esophageal echocardiography, peripheral vascular examinations and functional tests) as well as invasive procedures (e.g. angioplasties of complex coronary arteries lesions.

The Cardiology Unit includes the Catheterization Laboratory, the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) and the Non-invasive Cardiology Unit.

The Cardiology Unit perform the following activities dedicated to outpatients:

  • General Cardiology outpatient clinic
  • Echocardiography laboratory
  • Cardiovascular prevention clinic
